Portugal's Golden Visa Program was first implemented in 2012 as an incentive to attract foreign investment into the country. For the first time ever, non-EU citizens had the opportunity to gain full access to the EU and a European passport.
Better yet, there is not six consecutive months or eight non-consecutive months commitment in Portugal as the standard visa requires. Instead, the minimum stay requirement is just seven days a year, giving non-EU citizens a flexible and realistic pathway to European citizenship.

Since 2023, real estate and residency have been separated! Thankfully, this has created a more straightforward and effective pathway for applicants.
